Home learning

In preparation for your child’s first week of home learning, here is an update on where you can find future work and support.
To ensure your child continues to learn, teachers have been working tirelessly to provide accessible learning for the forthcoming weeks.

Firstly, we have sent home a blank workbook and a selection of work which has been planned to last a week and as always, we highly encourage reading every day. During school hours, there will be a member of staff available on Facebook to answer queries relating to the work (via private message) alternatively you can e-mail princebishops@durhamlearning.net.

In addition to the work provided, all children (Year 2-6) have access to Times Tables Rock Stars and Year 1 – Y6 have a login for Mathletics. On Mathletics, teachers will set challenges throughout the week and, at certain time slots, will log on to Mathletics themselves to challenge children in the online arena!

Each Friday, teachers will upload a new selection of work onto the class pages of the school’s website https://www.princebishops.org.uk/topic/class-pages and the following Thursday, answers will be provided to enable children to self-mark.

As well as the work set by teachers, there is a wide variety of free educational websites available such as:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround CBBC Newsround (We recommend watching this each day like we do at school.)

https://www.twinkl.co.uk/offer Use the code UKTWINKLHELPS for free access

www.kids.nationalgeographic.com National Geographic website

https://www.nasa.gov/ NASA space station website

https://scratch.mit.edu/ Scratch (Children often use this in computing lesson.)

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button A variety of fun maths games

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/levels/z3g4d2p KS1 BBC bitesize

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/levels/zbr9wmn KS2 BBC Bitesize

In addition to these sites, we will regularly update the Facebook page and school website with fun activities, links to free resources and videos from teachers.

Most importantly, please stay safe in this tough and testing time; we are thinking of you all.
